Wanli Nie is a postdoctoral researcher at Universita di Bologna involving in the POPCLIMA project that examines population dynamics under climate change. Her doctoral dissertation studies how international migration affects family behaviours from the life course perspective in the China - U.S. migration context.
Her current research interests lie in two fields: family demography and migration. In the field of migration studies, she investigates internal and international migration patterns in the Global South, asylum policies and the effect of water depletion. Within the domain of family demography, she studies fertility behaviour under China's one-child policy and educational component.
